Going Going Gone....

Sending signals out to all my telepathic mates out there....

Waiting to board at Sydney International Airport onwards to Singapore. And it is indeed a very calm day. Or maybe it's just this wing of the airport that is such. Little noise, few people, not even a single announcement over the PA system.

Hmmm.....I could be meditating standing up. :) Ohhhmmmmm.....

Regular bloggers (and you know who you are), make time to la-kopi with me ya?

Be kind to your souls and each other. It sure feels damn good.

What a night!

I've just come back from an awesome musical "Soracco - Opening the Door to your Heart".

It was with good fortune that I got invited to the show as a VIP together with my dad. We sat next to the Sri Lankan High Commisioner and his wife, and the Minister of State Mr Chan Soo Sen. But rubbing shoulders with high-profiled guests was the least best part.

Being the final night of this fund-raising event, the encore time was used to get the invited guests and any audience to come onto stage to sing and dance with the cast. And everyone was so sporting! My dad, Mr Chan and myself all went up and danced and sang to familiar tunes like "Thank you for the Music". Gosh, it sure was as much girlie fun as Mamma Mia (featuring ABBA's music) in Sydney!

What great spirit I felt tonight!

The cast was made up of Singapore talent with so much energy and buzz. And people of such varied backgrounds - SIA IT Vice President, SIA stewardess, doctors, lawyers, professional artistes, a monk and brave children, just to touch on a few.

Putting aside the fact that this was an event organised by Buddhist Fellowship ( in celebration for Vesak Day and also as a fund-raising event), it was such an insightful musical. Not to mention it was performed by a cast from different religious backgrounds. All for the same cause. What a superb display of tolerance and harmony!

The script centred around stories about love, greed, fame and wealth. And what it can do to destroy our lives if we let them rule us. You might be asking why would love destroy us? Well, too much of anything is never good. Even the good stuff. Remember the saying "Love is blind"? Well, we lose clarity of the mind if we have too much of any of the above too.

Think about it. Take time to contemplate. It's those simple things. That when we are not mindful, the consequences are hard to bear. Not to mention the physical, emotional, social and psychological suffering that comes along with it.

I hope this musical has the opportunity to become a formal production. And take off like any other Broadway musicals in the future.

So here's to the great effort of the cast tonight! Gambate!!!!!

PS: Oh and I forgot to add that the party afterwards at the Singapore Cricket Club was good fun too! You know, meeting liked-minded people, making new friends, and of course , the free food and drinks lah .... :)

Beautiful smiles, Beautiful people

***Look out for more pictures of other smiling people in my life in future entries***

By the power of friendship and smiles, anyone can get through a difficult time.

I am a fortunate soul to have family who are like friends to me. And friends who are like family to me. It's not the good things you want to hear all the time, but also the critical perspectives they offer.

About myself. What I am and how I look at this life I have.

It does not matter what I discover at the end. Just as long as I am at peace with what I discover.

Be at peace with myself.

Regrets?

Ever felt why in the world did we do what we did? And feel full of regrets?

Try not to feel this way. Because then we just end up backtracking to fix things and thus make things worse! (Yes , yes, look who's talking here. )

And get rid of all those guilty feelings. They are not only harmful but can make you do and think stupid things during these emotional times.

So buck up. Fear not. And move on.

Fear of the Unknown

Everyone's probably faced one of these situations before.

What do you do?

There's no way you can run away from it. Not forever at least. So what then?
Face it with courage or face it with tears? Face it with loving kindness or face it with deep anger and hatred?

Steadfastness in the midst of fear. That's what I will do.

Wish me luck.
